DTN COMMENTS:  Still just some scattered bids on the table this afternoon 
that continue to be passed. Asking prices are around $240 in the South, 
but are still not fully established in the North. Significant trade 
volume will be delayed until Wednesday or later. 

Today's slaughter totaled 119,000 head 2,000 more than last week, but 
7,000 less than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed mixed, mostly 
lower off 132 to up 42, while feeders ended the day sharply/significantly 
lower, off 140 to 1202. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with 
light to moderate box movement.
